Trust & safety
A room is someone's home. We treat it that way.
RoomPair is built so a host can feel confident about who moves in, and a renter can feel confident the room is real. Verification reduces risk but does not guarantee safety.
Host ID Verified
The host has submitted valid photo identification and our team has reviewed it. This badge is about the person, not the property.
Address Verified
The host has provided evidence connecting them to the address, such as a utility bill or tenancy document, and our team has reviewed it.
Room Verified
The host filmed a continuous walkthrough of the actual room showing a unique RoomPair code we issued. No badge is ever granted automatically.
RoomPair Visited
Reserved for rooms a member of the RoomPair team has visited in person. Only we can grant it — hosts cannot apply for it.
Renter verification
Renters confirm their email, mobile, valid ID and that they are over 18. Study, employment and reference checks are optional. Hosts see the badge, never the documents.
Addresses stay private
Public listings show an approximate area only. The exact address is released to the renter once a booking is confirmed — never before.
Documents kept private
IDs, references and verification videos go to private storage. Only you and our review team can access them, through short-lived secure links.
Report and block
Any message, listing or profile can be reported or blocked. Reports go straight to a moderation queue with an audit trail.
Honest badges
A badge only ever means a person checked the evidence supplied at that time. Verification reduces risk — it does not guarantee safety, and you should still use your judgement.
Staying safe when you view a room
- Keep messages on RoomPair until a booking is confirmed.
- Never pay rent, a deposit or a "holding fee" before you have viewed a room.
- Tell someone where you are going and view in daylight where you can.
- Be wary of anyone who refuses a viewing, rushes you, or asks for money by bank transfer or gift card.
- Report anything that feels wrong — we would much rather hear about it.
